This inner city home in Sydney needed total renovation and a feeling of space. As a two level terrace for a small family, outdoor and kitchen areas were important.
Solution Focussing on sustainable design, the home retains a sense of privacy and airiness. The rear of the house was opened to make room for a compact professional kitchen which seamlessly leads to the outside deck. The deck continues to a rear bathhouse and laundry – giving the family a much valued bathing and resting space. From the bathhouse, the property has direct access to the park behind.
The upper floor main bedroom was updated and its balcony overlooks the park. A contemporary bathroom is also on the second floor. And a loft room was made accessible for additional space.
Influenced by Japanese architecture and natural materials, the home is a zen-like refuge from inner city life.
